Being a devotee indicates religious belief, which is special category data. We rely on the exemption for a religious not-for-profit body and its members (UK GDPR Article 9(2)(d)).
Nothing you give us is shown publicly. The only personal information we publish is photographs taken at the mandir.
Photographs at the mandir
We photograph festivals, classes and other activities and publish some pictures on our website, app, screens and social media. A notice at every entrance says photography takes place. We do this in our legitimate interests in sharing mandir life with the community.
When you save a photo in the app, it is written to your device's photo library and nothing is sent to us — we do not know which photos you save, and we never read your photo library.
Cookies and analytics
Website. We count page views with Microsoft Application Insights (UK). It sets two cookies, ai_user (up to a year) and ai_session (30 minutes). Signing in sets an essential session cookie. Our contact and mailing-list forms use Google reCAPTCHA to block spam. We do not use Google Analytics or advertising cookies.
App. The app uses PostHog (EU), with two switches in Settings. Crash reports are on unless you turn them off — legitimate interests in an app that works. Usage statistics are off unless you agree — consent. Both use a random install identifier that is never linked to your account, and are kept for up to one year. The app has no cookies or advertising identifier.
Who else sees it
We use trusted suppliers for payments, hosting, email, spam protection, app notifications and app analytics. They act only on our instructions. We give Gift Aid details to HMRC, and disclose information where the law requires. Where data leaves the UK, the transfer safeguards UK law requires are in our contracts.
How long we keep it
- App account — until you delete it.
- Donation and Gift Aid records — a minimum of six years after the financial year, as HMRC requires, even after account deletion.
- Notification tokens — until notifications are turned off or the app is removed.
- App crash reports and statistics — up to one year.
- Messages and mailing lists — until dealt with, or until you ask us to stop.
Deleting your account
Delete your account in the app's Settings, or email info@sksst.org. Your name, email, password, telephone, date of birth, sex, donor number and address are erased straight away. Donation and Gift Aid records are kept for HMRC, and app statistics are not linked to your account, so deletion does not reach them.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or move your information, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent. Email info@sksst.org; we reply within one month, free of charge. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
App accounts are for ages 13 and over; the app will not accept a younger date of birth. If we learn an account belongs to a child under 13 we will delete it.
Security and changes
Access to your information is limited to those who need it, and passwords are stored scrambled. We would tell you and the ICO of any breach that puts you at risk. The date at the top shows this version; we will tell you directly of any change that materially affects you.
